Write For Us
Guidelines & Criteria
Apple Forever is a continuously growing resource for readers. Therefore, we always welcome new authors who are interested in writing articles, tutorials, or reviews. We let pretty much everyone write for us, but there are guidelines that we would like you to follow in order to uphold our standards and make the site more enjoyable for our readers. Please read and consider these guidelines and criteria before submitting your proposal.
Topics
The article, tutorial, or review you write should relate to Apple, Apple products, or software/hardware for Apple products.
Benefits
We greatly appreciate authors taking the time to write for us, so we will include your author bio and a backlink to your site at the end of each article, tutorial, or review you write.
Additionally, at the end of every month, we publish a news article that officially thanks the authors who submitted a piece of writing that month. This will include your bio and your backlink as well.
If you are a frequent writer for Apple Forever, we will reward your efforts by providing a footer ad for your site of choice, free of charge, after every ten pieces of writing you submit. If you submit at least one article, one tutorial, and one review every month of the year starting January 2010, we will also send you a free Apple Forever t-shirt, coffee mug, and mouse pad, stating that you are an official Apple Forever author of the year.
Copyright
All content written or created by you and published by Apple Forever is included in our copyright with all rights reserved. Therefore, we encourage you to publish your pieces of writing on your own sites or blogs along with an optional “As seen on Apple Forever” statement and link back to your original post on appleforever.com.
Proposal
Before you can submit your pieces of writing, please submit a proposal for an article, tutorial, or review you would like to write. Include a summary, and the major points and benefits of your piece in the proposal.
Send your proposal to write@appleforever.com. You can also attach your proposal as a file in the email.
Writing
We will read your proposal and reply to you as soon as possible. Allow up to five days for us to get back to you. Once your proposal is accepted by our staff, you can begin writing. Your piece should be between 600 and 2600 words long, with a title, subtitles, content, and should clearly address your major points. All links should be included or clearly marked. We accept TXT, HTML, DOC/DOCX, RTF, and WPS file formats.
When you have finished writing, proofread your piece at least two times or test your tutorial. It is also a good idea to get someone else to proofread or test your work before you submit it.
Finally, write your one paragraph author bio with one backlink. You may also include a 100 x 100 pixel sized author photo.
Images, Videos, and Multimedia
Please include or attach any images, videos, or multimedia you use in your piece of writing.
Images should not exceed 300 x 300 pixels for articles or reviews, and 600 x 600 pixels for tutorials. If they do exceed these maximum sizes, we will crop or resize them regardless of content. Supported file formats: JPEG, GIF, and PNG.
Videos should be no longer than 5 minutes in length and should not replace your written piece, rather enhance it with visual demonstrations or explanations. Supported file formats: MP4 and AVI.
Multimedia is limited to flash animations, and audio files, which can only be narrations by you, short pieces of music such as an iPhone ringtone, or a quote from a speech, and need to be in either MP3 or WAVE format.
Please note: All images, videos, or multimedia files you use need to be copyright free, used with written permission, or of your own creation. None of these files may, under any circumstances include advertisements of any sort.
Editing
All articles, tutorials, and reviews need to be thoroughly revised before being submitted. Once we receive your pieces of writing we will screen them for spelling and grammar mistakes, inappropriate content (such as advertisements or explicit material), and compliance with the guidelines above.
Once we have finished screening, we will either publish your piece without further communication if the edits were minor or non-existent, or send it back to you for your approval, in case of major edits. If we catch many major errors or mistakes, or if your article, tutorial, or review does not correctly follow our guidelines, we will send everything back to you without revisions and request a second draft. If the second draft fails to meet our standards, we will reject your submission.
We will not publish articles that we find to be defamatory, slanderous or untruthful.
